First Floor

On the first floor, you will find the great room, kitchen, dining room and two bedrooms. The deck offers Adirondack chairs, a gas grill (full tank of propane included) and steps leading down to the yard. Off the great room, there is also access to the a screened-in patio with ample seating, an outdoor fireplace, and ceiling fans. There is one full bathroom featuring a Jacuzzi tub which is shared by the bedrooms and a half bath in the hallway.

Second Floor

On the second floor, there is the main bedroom with a queen-sized bed (see the amazing lake view right from your bed), and an attached bathroom featuring a large tile shower stall, a Jacuzzi tub, and two sinks. Directly off the bedroom is access to a private balcony overlooking the beautiful Lake Fontana.

Basement

In the basement, there is a large living area including a kitchenette, dining area, ample seating, fireplace, Big screen TV, ping pong table and an air-hockey table. There are also two bedrooms each featuring two twin-sized beds which share a full bath, and a laundry area. This level also features a private entrance which leads out to the yard.

Kitchen

Your kitchen is appointed with granite countertops, modern appliances including cooktop oven, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. We also provide you with all the dishes, utensils and cooking tools you'll need. A gas grill is provided on the attached deck for BBQ connoisseurs (full propane tank included as well as a spare).

Deer Lake log cabin is located on Fontana Lake, in a large private "Upscale" subdivision about a 20 minute trip to the back from the gated entrance. The subdivision's entrance is hidden from The Great Smoky Mountains Expressway (HW 74) which connects it to all the main attractions of the region. The restaurants, shops and Deep Creek entrance to the GSMNP are about a 20 minute trip along HW 74 to Bryson City. The Cherokee Indian Reservation and its many cultural exhibits, shops, Harrah?s Casino and Visitors Center main entrance of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park are another 15 to 20 minutes past Bryson City. If spending a day or two fishing or just cruising Fontana Lake itself appeals to you; you can rent a pontoon boat or launch your own fishing boat about 10 minutes away ( by Water) at the Almond Boat Dock and dock your boat at Deer Lake?s private floating dock. If you are in the need of a little more exciting time on the water; try white water rafting down the Nantahala River about 25 minutes down HW 74. The cabin is about seven miles from the entrance along a well paved yet very winding scenic mountain road. Since the last mile or so is a gravel road, we don't recommend motorcycles. The about 20 minute scenic drive to the cabin helps to separate you from the noise and stresses of a busy world; preparing you for the quiet seclusion that makes for a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation that few others get to experience. Along this quiet forested and curvy two way road you will occasional pass driveways of other partially visible cabins that wind off into the forest, a few deer that will dash across the road and disappear into the mountain forest and many flocks of wild turkeys foraging along and in the road. Even a fox or two have been seen dashing under the cover of the trees along the road. The max speed along this road is 20 mph. Though the winding curves may inspire that road rally spirit we strongly suggest that you don't test the speed limit. Some of the full time residents of this community enjoy biking and jogging this same road and there are many sharp blind curves that can appear quickly. Also it is not uncommon for there to be a wild animal or two on the road, mostly flocks of wild turkeys which are slow to move out of a cars way, they almost seem annoyed by the car?s interruption of their dinner. We do suggest that you stop by the grocery store in town before heading out to this cabin since most guest find it hard to leave once they have arrived at the cabin. Access road: Cars and Most All vehicles- Paved and hard packed gravel sections on a well maintained mountain road, Switchbacks and moderate to steep incline sections possible, no washed out section. Deer Lake is a three level log cabin with a private floating dock and lots of deck space to enjoy its location on the forested mountain side a short distance up from the shoreline of Fontana Lake. As no hunting of any type is permitted within the large minimally developed subdivision that this cabin is located in, the area has become a sort of an unfenced refuge for the native smoky mountain animals. When vacationing here the cabin owner kept seeing deer making their way down the mountain side through the trees to the lake shore for a drink. So, to offer the vacationing guest at their cabin a better chance to see these beautiful lords of the forest; a stocked deer feeding station is now located just off the bend in the drive way. The paved driveway begins at the gravel road above the cabin. As you turn down the driveway headed for the cabin, the shimmering waters of the lake below reflect through the trees. As you pull up to the side of the cabin to park and step out of your vehicle, the mountain lake side environment fills the air with a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Guest have stated that they found this lake side setting so inviting that they were compelled to climb down the stairs to visit the lake before they even took their luggage into the cabin. We have also been told that sitting on the edge of the floating dock with your toes in the cool water and just taking in the scenic mountain lake view for a few minutes, is incredibly relaxing after a long but worth it drive. Back up at the parking area where you probably left your car are two sets of steps. The stairs down to the lake, as you probably have already seen, are on the left and the steps to the front door are straight ahead. A top of the steps is a gate that matches the railing of the covered front porch. This gate allows you to close off the exit point of the deck so your four legged companion can spend time in the fresh air with you. Please note the width of the space between the rails and its height when considering if your pet could escape through or over the railings. The front entrance to this cabin has a screen door like all true log cabins should have. Past the front door a hanging swing at the rear of the porch is a quiet and relaxing spot to enjoy the fresh mountain air while listening to the birds singing in the forest. The stairs on the left side of the parking area not only lead down to the dock on the lake but also offers access the upper and lower decks facing the lake. At the first landing you can climb up another set of stairs to the upper deck or enter the gate on the right to the lower covered deck. The open sunny upper deck sets high overlooking the lake. The breeze scented by the surrounding mountain forest and carrying the sounds of birds playing amongst the trees with an occasional passing boat splashing wave against the shore of the lake below is strongest here of the two decks. Like the deck on the mountain side of the cabin, a gate with a latch is at the top of the stairs to allow you to close off the exit point of the deck to accommodate pets or smaller family members. (Always keep pets and or small children under supervision when outside on any of the decks or stairs.) A dinette set with seating for 6 guest is a great spot to dine outside or just relax and enjoy a drink and a card game with family or friends. At the side of the deck opposite the stairs is a gas fire pit. Where sitting in a chair in front of an easily lit fire with your favorite beverage in hand, surrounded by friends, is a pretty relaxing way to watch the sun set over a scenic mountain lake. A self-standing porch swing is also on the upper deck. The upper deck is also accessed from either the door next to the stone fireplace in the living room or the sliding glass door of the dining room. Back at the first landing down from the parking area stairs is a set of French doors that lead into the lower level mud room. The gate on the right opens into the covered lower deck. The only other access to the lower deck is from another door in the lower level mud room. The whole lower deck is covered by vinyl roofing to create a completely shaded refuge from the sun and on rainy days the lower deck is dry enough to still enjoy the fresh air. The first feature to great you on the lower deck is the gas grill. To the left of the gate is the large hot tub. After spending a long day exploring the trails of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park the hot tub?s warm messaging waters feel pretty soothing on sore muscles. Even if you haven?t been hiking for miles, sitting in a hot tub overlooking a scenic mountain lake at a secluded log cabin is a great way to spend a vacation. If you?re not in the mood for a dip in the hot tub; to the right is a row of rocking chairs that spending some time in will help to slow down the pace of life and restore a sense of peace. Another dinette set also set at the far end of the deck, so you can still eat out even on rainy days. The lower deck is well lighted so the fresh air and hot tub can be enjoyed as late into the night as you want. From the entrance to the lower deck a series of stairs and landings wind down through the forested yard to the private floating dock on Fontana Lake. The last section of walk way that connects to the aluminum gangplank has a long bench shaded by the trees for sitting and enjoying the view or waiting for your boat to arrive. The floating dock has a canap? to shade your boat when it is docked. Don?t own a boat or have time to spend out on a boat; you can still fish from the dock or shore line if you bring your fishing poles. Bait, fishing licenses, boat rentals and a few tips are available at Almond Boat Dock. This dock is only about 5 to 10 minutes away by water and 15 minutes down the road from the entrance of this gated community. Even if fishing and boating is not you?re your thing, sitting on the edge of a dock on a beautiful mountain lake watching an eagle hunting for its next sushi dinner is an experience not easily forgotten. Fontana Lake is a managed and dam controlled mountain lake that forms the boarder of GSMNP. The level of this lake varies throughout the year and it is possible for the dock to be resting on the beach and the lake to be very deep a few feet from the end of the dock at certain time of the year. To the right of the dock the water level is shallow enough to create an almost beach access area for swimming. Keep in mind that the lake bed drops steeply off near the end of the deck. (See winter picture of dock and lake level for example.) Guest must swim at their own risk. Please bring life vest if you plan to swim. ( Fontana Lake levels vary throughout the year. Dock at cabin will not likely float during the months of September through June . Please call the front desk to inquire as to actual lake levels when planning a visit. ) The front door is on the mountain side (right side from the parking area) of the cabin. As you step through the front door, you enter into a hallway with a set of stairs to the upper level on the right. The true log cabin feel continues into the interior of the cabin. The floors, walls and beamed ceilings are all built of real wood that imparts a warmth and natural spirit to the interior. As you pass the stairs and continue moving straight ahead you will reach the living room. Right before you reach the living room a set of stairs down to the lower level will be on the left forming the back wall of the living room. When you enter the living room the first thing you will notice is the large stone gas log fireplace reaching up to the cathedral ceiling with a flat screen satellite TV mounted above the mantel. To relax and enjoy your favorite show or just watch the warm glow of the fireplace, the living room has a leather reclining sofa, love seat and recliner. To the right side of the fireplace is a glass door and outer screen door that lead out to the upper deck. Opening this screen door in combination with the front screen door will allow you to create a flow of fresh mountain forest scented air through the cabin creating the feeling the outdoor throughout the inside. When the quiet evening in front of the fireplace ends, you can go in the door to the right of the living room to enter the master bedroom suite. The master bedroom has a king size bed, satellite TV and private bathroom. To the left the of the living room is a large dark wood dining table that seats six guest across from a view of the mountain forest through sliding glass doors. A newly remodeled kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and all the cooking and dining utensils needed to cook a great meal is next to the dining room. A set of folding doors along one side of the kitchen hides the washer and dryer. At the back of the kitchen is a hallway on the left with a pantry that ends back at the front door. The stairs next to the front door lead to the upper level. The first bedroom on the upper level is to the right of the top of the stairs. This bedroom has a queen size bed, satellite TV and warm tongue and groove natural wood walls and ceiling. A rocking chair is positioned in the dormer bump out where the window lets in lots of natural light make a great spot to read a few chapters of that book you have been meaning to finish. The next door along the walk way is the upper level full bath. The door at the end of the walk way is the second bedroom of the upper level. This bedroom also has natural wood tongue and groove walls and ceiling. The bed in this room is a king size bed. A satellite TV sits on the dresser opposite the bed. This bedroom also has a dormer bump out with a rocking chair in front of the window making a great spot to read a few early morning emails; but only if you want to think about work. The stairs from the living room end in the mudroom of the lower level. This room has two sets of doors. The one straight ahead leads to the parking area and the one on the right opens to the lower level deck and hot tub. The main and largest room of the lower level also has tongue and grove natural wood walls and ceiling. A bunk bed set is on the left side of the room. It has a twin upper bunk over a full size lower bed. Opposite the bunk bed is the second largest flat screen TV at the cabin. The kids can watch their favorite shows before bed. That is if you can get them to go to bed. Just pass the bunk bed is a non-regulation size pool table. The door at the back of the room is the full bath for the lower level.

Approx 65 mi-Gatlinburg, 86 mi-Asheville, 22 mi-Bryson City. Very close to whitewater rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, world class mountain biking at Tsali recreation center, fishing, hiking/exploring the Great Smoky mountain national park, and touring the scenic roadways like the Tail of the Dragon (hwy 28). The cabin has Hughes Net Next Gen 5's top plan for the area at 20GB data for the entire month and 25 MB speed. If it is absolutely critical to always a have landline and wifi and or if your group plans on using the house as a secondary office, needs to on-line game (not possible at this time), needs to download large files, stream movies/music/ect you might want to book another property. The wifi is only to be used to check e-mail, wifi calling, and internet browsing. Verizon cell service is the only service available in the area due to cell tower location and reception can be spotty at the cabin. The cabin is 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath with stainless steel kitchen appliances, Italian granite tile countertops, butcher block island on wheels, slate tiled floor, with kitchen appliances including a regular coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, crockpot, and blender. The kitchen has cookware and dinnerware for groups up to 10 and is stocked with limited paper products/laundry supplies. The cabin has (4) LCD TV's with Direct TV and blue ray players. The cabin has central heat/air and also has fans in each bedroom and the living room. The living room has couch seating for 6 and has a instant start propane fireplace with rustic mantle. There is a convertible ping pong/air hockey table top that can be put over the dining table. There is a wood burning fire pit with seating for 10 and a playground/swing/fort below the deck overlooking the lake. Option to rent from mid May to mid October: 20' 2012 Sun Tracker/60 HP pontoon boat for $800/week or $250/day and 3 person Sea Doo jet ski for $500/week or $250/day. The jet ski and pontoon boat are not available to rent from October through mid/late April due to the dock not floating during the late fall/winter months. * Fontana Lake water levels vary throughout the year. The dock is typically floating from the 3rd week of April until the end of September. From October until late April the dock rests on the shore bank. Guests can still access the water by stepping off the 60' walkway and walking down the shore bank to the water. Fontana Lake is over 200 feet deep in areas so there is always a lot of water in this 30 mile long lake. The lake is slowly drawn down after labor day and is dropped approx 50 linear feet during the winter months (lake depth over 200 feet in areas) and typically starts rising in March The cabin is located at the end of a 2 mile hard packed dirt/gravel one lane road. Although there is very little traffic on this road, guests are encouraged to drive slow and be prepared to safely pull over or back up slightly in the very rare event of a vehicle coming in the opposite direction. The private dock on Fontana Lake is most easily accessed by using the ATV 2/3 of the way. After parking the ATV there is a 1 minute walk on a fairly level shaded trail and then 85 steps down to the dock and then back up to the trail. The steps could be challenging for children and persons with mobility limitations. If the ATV is not available due to repairs/ect the walk is approx 8-10 minutes. Trash policy: Please do not leave any trash outside of the garbage can provided to avoid trash build up during rental which will attract local wildlife. Guests can take trash to community dump conveniently located off hwy 28 during rental or call property manager to make arrangements.

The cabin includes the use of a side by side Polaris side by side ATV to be used to get your family to the private dock. For fitness minded guests, the hike can be invigorating. For those taking the side by side ATV, there is a short 100 foot level hike to the dock. The dock is being expanded in 2021 to offer more family space for "hanging out" by the lake. With a private waterslide and sun deck, the family is sure to enjoy time in and by the pristine waters of Fontana Lake. For even more family fun guests can rent our beautiful 2019 Sylvan pontoon boat to explore all of Fontana Lake. (This allows avid hikers to access famous trails in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park which can only be accessed by boat.) This property is a remote, scenic, and peaceful vacation escape destination in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Approx. 65 mi-Gatlinburg, 86 mi-Asheville, 22 mi-Bryson City. It is close to whitewater rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, world class mountain biking at Tsali recreation center, fishing, hiking/exploring the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and touring the scenic roadways like the Tail of the Dragon (Hwy 129) and the Moonshiner 28. (Hwy 28). The cabin has Hughes Net Next Gen 5's top plan for the area at 20GB data for the entire month and 25 MB speed. (There is not adequate Internet bandwidth for on-line gaming, downloading large files, streaming movies/music/etc. ). The Wi-Fi is only to be used to check e-mail, Wi-Fi calling, and internet browsing. We have added an additional Wi-Fi/hotspot through AT&T which gives enough bandwidth to hold Zoom meetings, FaceTime, etc. This addition now makes our cabin the perfect location to "work from home" during this pandemic and beyond! All cell phone service is supported in the cabin thanks to a cell signal booster, however, reception outside of the cabin can be spotty. There is a reliable "land line" for guests to use. The cabin has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths with stainless steel kitchen appliances, Italian granite tile countertops, butcher block island on wheels, slate tiled floor, with kitchen appliances including a regular coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, crockpot, and blender. The kitchen has cookware and dinnerware for groups up to 10 and is stocked with limited paper products/laundry supplies. The cabin has (4) LCD TV's with Direct TV (master bedroom and family room) and blue ray players (all four tv’s). The cabin has central heat/air and also has fans in each bedroom and the living room. The living room has couch seating for 6 and has an instant start propane fireplace with rustic mantle. The living room has a 50' LCD TV with Direct TV package, blue ray player/Wii/games/movie library. The dining table seats up to 8 people. There is a convertible ping pong/air hockey table top that can be put over the dining table. The master bedroom on the main level has a king bed, 42' LCD TV with blue ray player, and a private bathroom with slate tiled floor and large 3' x 5' slate tiled shower and granite vanity. The 2nd bedroom upstairs with a small private balcony has a queen bed and a futon and has a 32' LCD with blue ray player. The 3rd bedroom has a double bed and bunk bed with 32' LCD and blue ray player. The upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with a slate tiled shower. Outside: On the large covered patio there is an 8' regulation size pool table, charcoal grill (charcoal/fluid provided!), table with 6 chairs, 4 rockers, 2 high deck chairs, a propane firepit, checkers table, 2 fans with lights, and a hot tub. There is also a wood burning fire pit with seating for 10 and a playground/swing/fort below the deck overlooking the lake. The pontoon boat is not available to rent from late October through early April due to the dock not floating during the late fall/winter months. * Fontana Lake water levels vary throughout the year. The dock is typically floating from the 3rd week of April until the end of September. From October until late April the dock rests on the shore bank. Guests can still access the water by stepping off the 60' walkway and walking down the shore bank to the water. Fontana Lake is over 200 feet deep in areas so there is always a lot of water in this 30 mile long lake. The lake is slowly drawn down after labor day and is dropped approximately 50 linear feet during the winter months and typically starts rising in March. The private dock on Fontana Lake is most easily accessed by using the side by side ATV. For our fitness minded guests, the hike takes about 8 minutes. Because the area is very mountainous, accessing the dock via a wheelchair or other assistive device is very difficult. The cabin is located at the end of a 2 mile hard packed gravel one lane road. Although there is very little traffic on this road, guests are encouraged to drive slow and be prepared to safely pull over or back up slightly in the very rare event of a vehicle coming in the opposite direction. Trash policy: Please do not leave any trash outside of the garbage can provided to avoid trash build up during rental which will attract local wildlife. Guests can take trash to community dump conveniently located off Hwy 28 during rental or call property manager to make arrangements.

Catch fish from the private dock for dinner, roast marshmallows at the outdoor fire pit, or go for a run down the quiet gravel road. Tired out from activities? Guests without boat/kayak/canoe or not wanting to use my canoe can call Fontana Marina at 828-498-2017 to arrange for $100 round trip per person. The closest boat launch from the boathouse (about 30-45 minute canoe/kayak paddle) is Oros Landing which can be booked in advance by calling the owner and paying $10/night for parking and keyed gated access. Guests not wanting to use Oros Landing can launch further away at Cable Cove, Fontana Marina, or Prince Boat Dock (all about 30 minutes away with a power boat). Guests will need to bring their own life jackets, drinking water, sleeping bags/sheets/pillow cases/towels. There is no cleaning service, no cleaning fee, and no laundry service. The boathouse is totally off the grid which means no shore power, no cable television, no WIFI, no phone, no AC, and probably no cell service. The boathouse features a kitchen area with Italian granite tiled kitchen, and pebble tiled backsplash, under counter fridge/freezer and 2 burner cooktop, bar seating for 3, French press for coffee, dinnerware and utensils, basic kitchen supplies, pots/pans, and paper towels/garbage bags. The boathouse has a water filtration system but guests will need to bring water to a boil on cooktop to ensure water is safe to drink. The living room area features a reclining full sized futon, and 32" TV with blue ray player with approx. 50 DVD's, books and games. The bedroom area has (2) full/double beds (1 of which is a bunk bed). Pillows are provided but guests will need to bring their own bedding/linens/towels/ect. The bathroom features a 12 sq ft slate tiled shower, sink, and marine toilet with marine toilet paper provided. The partially covered front deck area faces the lake and National Forest and has a picnic table, propane grill with spare 20 lb tanks and 2 reclining chairs. There is a double kayak included with the rental when at the boathouse. This rental is a unique property for guests that are adaptable to working with solar power, marine toilet, water pump, propane water heater and are able to provide their own linens/towels, and drinking water. The boat house does not have a cleaning crew so guests will need to clean the boathouse thoroughly before check out and remove all garbage on departure. The boathouse is stocked with Marine toilet paper, paper towels, bio degradable soap for washing dishes/hands/shampoo, and garbage bags. There are some spices/salt/pepper and basic kitchen supplies. A brand new addition features a downstairs bedroom with a king bed and an upstairs bedroom with two bunk beds, each bunk bed has a queen bed on the bottom and a twin bed on the top. A family can pack some people in or two couples with kids could share. There is also a separate, tiny cabin with a deck that has a queen bed. It is a short walk from the Tiny cabin to the 800 square foot covered porch nestled on the side of a hill. There is also a bathroom with a shower and toilet on the outdoor deck. The cabin is designed to encourages outdoor living and we spend 90% of our time on the porch, with three ceiling fans, when not playing in the lake or on the property. The porch (outside living room) has a massive stone fireplace, surrounded by couches. You will love roasting marshmallows by the fire every night. The porch also features a bathroom and an instant hot water shower. So the tiny cabin inhabitants don't need to go into the main house when showering or using the facilities. The shower has a little window overlooking the stream that runs next to the porch in the side yard. Our girls love to pan for gold in the stream for hours. A charcoal grill is provided but guests should add charcoal to the grocery list to be sure they are fully equipped when arriving to the property (charcoal is not provided). Walking up the property, there are several trails that lead to the top of the ridge where the old forest road runs for miles. If you're up for a leisurely 3 mile hike (once at the top) you can travel it to the end and you will be in the cove where they shot the Jody Foster movie, "Nell". If you love to fly fish, it does not get better than this! Native Browns a short boat ride away. This is a great place for outdoor adventurers. Some of the best mountain biking in the world is a 15 minute drive away at Tsali, where there are miles of trails that sweep along remote coves of Fontana lake. The Nantahala Outdoor Recreation center is only 15-20 minutes away where you can go for lunch, a beer, or take a guided white water rafting or kayaking trip. Wintertime enthusiasts: While the lake is too low to use, Beech Mountain is only 45 minutes away, fun NC skiing day or night. We are also only 25 minutes from beautiful Bryson city, often voted the prettiest mountain town in America. There is so much to do in town, from browsing quaint little antique shops to riding the valleys and river on the old Bryson train. Bikers are welcome, and our road is accessible to motorcyclists. We also have a covered garage area to accommodate your ride! The Tail of Dragon starts right outside our road, the best motorcycling on the East Coast and you're a short ride to the Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, Blueridge Parkway, and more. Please note that we will NOT rent to large groups who are just here to party. If you're looking for a city experience, this is not it. If you're looking for breathtaking views, adventure, hiking, fishing, biking, exploring, and time with family and friends, look no further. *Please note that the lake levels are dam controlled and vary throughout the year. Spacious two bedroom floating cabin, nestled in its own beautiful cove right on Fontana Lake! The perfect spot for fishing, boating, sunsets, relaxing or entertaining. The large, open decks (both covered and uncovered) are great for all occasions. Lights and phone chargers are powered by the solar panel on this roomy 650 sq ft floating paradise. With nearly double the square footage, the deck is perfect for enjoying the views of Fontana Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains. Included in the cost of the rental is the propane tank for the grill or to stay warm on those chilly nights. A big kitchen, lots of counter space and a four burner gas stove. There is no refrigerator or power but a large cooler with daily complimentary ice will be provided. A french press, mugs, plates, utensils, pots & pans, paper towels and garbage bags are also included. There is water filtration at the sink for clean drinking water. Cell service works, no cable tv, no wifi at the cabin but you can use the wifi at the marina. Bedding, linens, pillows and towels are provided. Two bedrooms and one pull out sofa, each with a full size bed. The bathroom has a hot water shower and toilet (marine toilet paper is provided). Only 1 pet allowed for $35, no size limit and not to be left unattended. This floating cabin is stationary and cannot be moved. The cabin is directly across from Fontana Marina and only accessible by water. A canoe with paddles are provided with the rental or you are welcome to bring your own. Guests can enjoy a 3 minute paddle from the Marina to the boathouse. If paddling is not for you, no worries, another option is to pay a small separate fee to the Marina for a pontoon boat shuttle. Above the Lake Log Cabin is located on Fontana Lake, in a large private "Upscale" subdivision about a 20-minute trip to the back from the gated entrance. The subdivision's entrance is hidden from The Great Smoky Mountains Expressway (HW 74) which connects it to all the main attractions of the region. The restaurants, shops and Deep Creek entrance to the GSMNP are about a 20-minute trip along HW 74 to Bryson City. The Cherokee Indian reservation and its' many cultural exhibits, shops, Harrah's Casino and Visitors Center main entrance of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park are another 15 to 20 minutes past Bryson City. The cabin is several miles from the entrance along a well paved yet very winding scenic mountain road. It is not uncommon for there to be a wild animal or two on the road, mostly flocks of wild turkeys which are slow to move out of a cars way, they almost seem annoyed by the cars interruption of their dinner. We do suggest that you stop by the grocery store in town before heading out to this cabin since most guest find it hard to leave once they have arrived at the cabin. Access Road: Cars and Most All vehicles- Paved and hard packed gravel sections on a well maintained mountain road, Switchbacks and moderate to steep incline sections possible, no washed out section. Above the Lake is a three level log cabin surrounded by scenic mountain views that overlook the picturesque Fontana Lake. The driveway to this cabin is paved and can comfortably accommodate multiple cars. When you step out of your car, you will walk up a few short steps that will take you to the deck of the cabin. On the outside deck, you will find plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the views that surround you, as well as an impressive outdoor fireplace with several rocking chairs and a picnic bench style tables for your enjoyment. Walking through the front door will take you into the main level. You will immediately notice the magnificent vaulted ceilings and spacious open floor plan of this cabin. The interior is bright and airy with walls and floors composed of stunning natural wood. To your left sits the living room and adjoining open kitchen floor plan. To your right are the stairs to the upper level. The living room is furnished with comfortable leather couches with memory foam pull out capability, a flat screen TV, and a magnificent stone wall fireplace. The spacious kitchen sits adjacent to the living room and is equipped with stainless steel appliances and a large wood island. The master has a private bath with adjacent his and her sink vanities and a standing only shower encased in glass. You will have plenty of closet space, and windows that display the outside views in all directions. This master is an open loft style layout, but still remains private from the rest of the house. Adjacent to the laundry room are the stairs that lead to the lower level. Downstairs you will find a spectacular game room furnished with leather coaches with memory foam pull out capability, a large flat screen TV, pool table, and mini fridge & microwave for your gaming pleasure! The main cabin entry opens to a large living room with tall ceilings, a large, leather sectional, big screen TV, and a two-way fireplace which connects to the kitchen. Highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows, the living room leads out to the deck which features the hot tub, gas grill, seating, and a wonderful lake view.

Just off the living area is the master suite which features a king bed and private bath with a large shower, jacuzzi tub, and his and her sinks. Also, on the main level, there is a full kitchen with a gas stove, two-way fireplace, and breakfast bar, a formal dining room, the laundry room, and a half bath in the foyer.

On the lower level, there are four bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, a second living area, and a kitchenette. In the middle of the lower level, there is an open living area with a TV and seating, a table and chairs for dining or games, and the kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink. On one side, there is a king bedroom and a full bedroom with a shared bathroom. On the other side, there is a queen bedroom which shares a bathroom with another bedroom containing a set of twin bunks.

All of our cabins feature both down and foam pillows as well as down comforters. Most beds have a pillow-top mattress, and all are dressed with luxury, all-cotton linens. Towels are provided for the base number of occupancy.

While the lowing of cows and the call of the farmer may be heard at the milking hour, the location is very quiet with an occasional car, farm vehicle, or pedestrian passing by. Yellow Branch Pottery, a working pottery studio is located at the bottom of the drive and open to visitors. The spacious downstairs of this cabin includes a great room with vaulted ceiling, an open, well-stocked, compact galley kitchen and dining area. The great room has a full kitchen including stainless steel appliances (dishwasher, oven, fridge) and a mountain-modern decor featuring cozy love seat and stylish reading chair surrounding a flat-panel TV and sleek ribbon-flame gas fireplace. There is a small dining table that seats 2 with additional 2 chairs if you pull the table out and entertain guests. The king bedroom features a pillow-top mattress and our luxury bedding including 600 thread count Egyptian cotton linens, down comforter, and stylish decorative dress.
